"A dreamily written, slyly educational, rousing and heartfelt adventure...told from the whale's point-of-view."

Written for young readers, the subject matter is none-the-less gripping and exciting! This is the story of two young Orca whales, Vega and her little brother Deneb, who become separated from their family pod in the Salish Sea, off the coast of British Columbia, in the Pacific Northwest. Children will cheer the happy ending, but will be left with thoughts on how they can help mitigate some of the troubling real-world problems facing these magnificent animals!

A WHALE OF THE WILD is written by Rosanne Parry, inspired by the endangered Orcas of the Pacific Northwest, facing global warming and starvation in their fight for survival. Research partner, and Illustrator, Lindsay Moore also studied marine biology and is passionate about bringing the plight of the Orca to a young generation.

The book concludes with an appendix of photos of the Salish Sea Orca pod of whales, and ten pages of fun facts about them. Have a look at other Books and Games about Whales.
